But I still want one. Or a Bronco. Nothing else is gonna fit on my driveway.
I like the “Dr. Bonnie Henry” sticker referring to our Provincial Health Officer who has become a cult hero to many here.
Also I like the dedication to such a meh jeep model.

I feel like if I were to ask for a granola bar,
they’d both have one and
oblige.

I’ve always liked the KJ Liberties. I’m not sure why the offroading community has shunned them because they have great engines and there’s still a proper truckish 4WD system underneath. I think it just came out too late into the SUV-as-family- car boom and got written off as a mall crawler instead of a true replacement for the XJ.

And it would be a Kind bar.

I hear a lot of things about that engine, and the word “great” isn’t one of them, but I have no personal experience with it.
I wasn’t part of the Jeep community at the time, but t he aesthetic was such a huge departure from the XJ I can see how it would have been polarizing.
If you’re going to replace an iconic vehicle, don’t turn it into a cartoon.

Is it just me, or is the drawing on that spare tire cover trying to give a Liberty the angry eyes look?

Kinda does actually... Oh jeep people

If they decided to make a Hemi Gladiator there’s at least a 50% chance I’d forsake my Chevy fanboyism

I’d argue that it has aged significantly better than a lot of its contemporary competition

I’m not saying it looks terrible, just that it was not nearly an XJ in appearance. I’ve considered buying one, but I can’t fathom buying another Jeep with that awful 6-speed transmission.

Because I’m a nerd, I looked up Dewdney Trunk Road. Interesting history. Came across the name Nelson Lougheed, which struck me as being very similar and likely closely related to Loughead. Allan and Malcolm Loughead changed the spelling of their last name and founded Lockheed. There seems to be no relation to the Canadian Lougheed and the American Loughead brothers, but there is likely a shared Scottish heritage.

Could do, this is quintessential PNW. I bet they could also talk for hours about hiking trails.
(I have granola bars at home and usually
in my
bike pack
so it’s not a dig or anything)

A family member has owned a first gen Liberty for eons. This person is notoriously hard on cars, and no doubt the thing has been ridden hard and put away yet. As far as I know, it soldiers on with little complaint. These things seem to be relatively solid if given basic maintenance.

I test dro ve one of these in about 2003 and really li ked how it drove. I don't remember why I didn't buy it anymore, but I definitely came close, going to two different dealers. As a result, I am also surprised that they aren't more well liked.
